Current UA Student Transfer Course Information
If planning to take a course at a 4-year institution in any state or a 2-year institution in another state:

  • You will need to contact the institution you plan to attend regarding course offerings, any information you need to fill out regarding transient enrollment, and any other information required by the institution.
  • Check the Transfer Equivalency Tables on your student tab in myBama under “My Banner Links” and then “Transfer Credit” to verify that the course will transfer as the appropriate UA course. Review the entire table for the institution you plan to attend.
  • Courses denoted with a course number of 197 will not count towards Lower Division Nursing requirements.
  • If the course you desire to take is listed in the table as equivalent, print the page and keep it for your records. Please understand that the Transfer Equivalency tables are not a contract. If you have questions or do not understand the equivalency tables please call 348-2020.
  • If the course you desire to take is listed as a different course or elective credit (Course numbered 197) then you will need to find another course that is equivalent to the desired course.
  • If the course is not listed on the table, you will need to email CCN (nursing@bama.ua.edu) your name, CWID, the institution where you will be taking the course, the course prefix and number and the title of the course. Only do this once you have checked the tables and the course is NOT listed. CCN will then have the course evaluated and will get back to you regarding the transferability of the course.

Notes:

  1. You should begin this process two months prior to enrolling at another institution.
  2. DO NOT wait until the last minute to begin this process.
  3. If the institution you plan on attending requires Enrollment Verification (this provides proof of enrollment for a student’s financial lender, insurance company or sponsor) go to “Student Records” on your mybama account to order this. Nursing does not provide this to students.
  4. If the institution you plan to attend requires a letter of transiency/good standing (this may be required by another institution before you are allowed to take courses) you may obtain this from the University of Alabama Registrar’s office located in 206, Student Services. CCN does not provide this to students.

Alabama Community College Transfer Course Information
If planning to take a course at a 2-year institution within the state of Alabama:

  • You will need to contact the institution you plan to attend regarding their course offerings, transient enrollment, and any other information required by the institution.
  • Please be aware that every institution does not have the same pre-requisites as UA. You will be required to abide by the pre-requisites set forth at the institution you will be attending.
  • A letter of transiency is required for Alabama Community Colleges and it is YOUR responsibility to obtain this from the University of Alabama Registrar’s office located in 206, Student Services. CCN does not provide this to students.

STARS:

What is STARS?

STARS stands for Statewide Transfer & Articulation Reporting System. STARS is a web-accessible database system which provides guidance and direction for prospective transfer students in the State of Alabama.

The STARS System allows public two-year students in Alabama to obtain a Transfer Guide/Agreement for the major of their choice. This guide/agreement, if used correctly, guides the student through their first two years of coursework and prevents loss of credit hours upon transfer to the appropriate public four-year university in Alabama. Although transfer guides/agreements can only be printed for two-year to four-year transfers, the STARS system can still provide guidance and direction to transfer students who have a different transfer situation.
