Biography

Kathleen Gunter is a full-time clinical instructor at The University of Alabama. She received her BSN from The University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing in 2010 and her MSN in Nursing Education from Samford University in 2017. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree from the UA/UAH Joint Nursing Science PhD program. Her research interests include mental health and the psychosocial wellbeing of women following miscarriage.

Ms. Gunter began her nursing career in 2010 as a bedside nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. She worked part-time as a clinical instructor from 2013-2016 while maintaining her bedside practice in the ICU. In the fall of 2016, while obtaining her MSN, she became the Education Coordinator at a local hospital.  In January 2018, she transitioned to the full time faculty role at The University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing. She has taught clinicals in both the Adult Health and Complex Client Undergraduate Program courses.

Ms. Gunter currently holds CCRN-CMC certifications as an Adult Critical Care and Cardiac RN through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.  She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
