Koss Clinical Practice Laboratory

The Koss Clinical Practice Laboratory (CPL) is composed of 4 separate lab areas with a total of 42 hospital beds. Upper division nursing students spend many hours in the Koss Clinical Practice Laboratory during each clinical course. The Koss CPL houses a wide variety of equipment and supplies that students are confronted with in the clinical settings and are expected to know how to use when providing direct patient care. Teaching models are provided for students to learn and practice skills essential to the nursing profession.

The Koss Clinical Practice Lab is named in honor of Walter and Edna Koss. Dr. Koss endowed the Clinical Practice Laboratory in 2001 to honor his wife, whose nursing career spanned more than 50 years.

To facilitate independent learning, students can check out various equipment and models to practice essential skills and conduct student projects. A staff member is available in the Lowery Learning Resources Center (LLRC) to assist students and faculty with equipment operation and clinical activities associated with the CPL. Work-study students also are available to assist students with learning needs.
