Dr. Janyce Dyer received an ASN from Valencia Community College, a BSN from Stockton State College, an MS in Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, a PhD in Nursing from The Catholic University of America, and a post-doctoral certificate as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. For several years, Dr. Dyer’s research and scholarship have been focused on risk and resilience across underserved and vulnerable populations that include individuals and families with existing mental illness and medical comorbidities or those at risk for these disorders. More recently she has extended this knowledge base to the area of HIV/AIDS prevention strategies within a multicultural context. Dr. Dyer’s methodological expertise includes advanced quantitative research methods, most specifically, instrumentation and measurement as well as cultural adaptation and translation of traditional designs. She serves as a grant reviewer for the International Research Committee of Sigma Theta Tau. Additionally, she has served as a manuscript reviewer and editorial board member for Archives of Psychiatric Nursing and Journal of HIV/AIDS and Social Service. Dr. Dyer is a member of the American Nurses’ Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, International Academy of Nurse Editors, American Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
