Dr. Sherrod earned an undergraduate degree from the Capstone College of Nursing, a Masters degree as a Family Nurse Clinician from Mississippi University for Women, and a doctorate from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also has a Post Master's certificate in Case Management. She teaches in the senior preceptorship course and holds a graduate faculty appointment. Dr. Sherrod is an accreditation evaluator for the Collegiate Commission of Nursing Education and serves on the editorial board of Nurse Educator. Her primary research interest is infertility. She is a member of the American Nurses' Association, Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Sherrod is a past President of the local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and a past recipient of the Sam S. May Award with a committee of others.
