Biography

Kelsey Chantel Simpson earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology (concentration in Exercise as Medicine) and her Master of Science in Kinesiology (concentration in Sport and Exercise Psychology) from East Carolina University. Her studies in exercise and health give her a foundation for research that looks at how people move, stay active, and maintain wellness.

Kelsey has experience supporting research initiatives, ranging from enhancing project operations to advancing the health of communities. She is particularly passionate about bridging the gap between science and practice, with an emphasis on community engagement and improving health outcomes through evidence-based strategies.

Within the University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing, Kelsey supports research efforts focused on rural health, as well as studies investigating sleep and brain health in older adults living with HIV.

Outside of research, Kelsey is a fitness and wellness lover who enjoys reading and embarking on new adventures to visit new places. Above all, she is driven by a heart for people and a commitment to doing good and showing up for others.
