Regina Yarbrough has kept the flame of care and compassion burning brightly at Princeton Baptist Medical Center for the past 40 years.  She is a nurse who epitomizes the best of nursing. In every position she has held, the human touch, tender communication, and genuine compassion have shown through.  Regina has been a role model and mentor to hundreds of nurses.  She remains in touch with the concerns that are close to the patient’s bedside. She championed and implemented a state-of-the-art electronic hand washing monitoring system, a palliative care program, a clinical rapid-response team, and a bedside electronic nursing documentation system.  Princeton has achieved national accreditation both as a Chest Pain Center and a Bariatric Surgery Center under her leadership.  Patient centered programs such as these have allowed Princeton to rank in the top ten percent of our nation’s hospitals in patient satisfaction scores.  At the same time, she is concerned about our future nurses, serving on advisory boards for the UAB School of Nursing, Jefferson State Community College, and the Capstone College of Nursing.  Regina has received numerous accolades and recognitions for her accomplishments. These include the Baptist Health System Excellence in Management Award, the Capstone College of Nursing’s Janet W. Awtrey Distinguished Nurse Leader Award, and the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing Courage to Care Award. She has had a profound impact on the lives of patients and the nurses who care for them. What sets Regina apart is that every day she lives out her belief that the bedrock of nursing is a caring touch, compassion, and a servant’s heart.
