Biography
Dr. Shubha Devi Sapkota earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Purbanchal University, Nepal, in 2010, and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Pediatric Nursing from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India, in 2014. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing Science at the University of Louisville in 2026, along with a Graduate Certificate in Health Professions Education.
Dr. Sapkota brings 15 years of combined clinical, academic, and research experience to the Capstone College of Nursing. She previously served as an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator at a nursing school in Nepal, where she taught pediatric nursing, leadership, and educational science, supervised clinical learning, and mentored BSN and post‑baccalaureate thesis students.
During her doctoral training at the University of Louisville, Dr. Sapkota served as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant and a HOPE Scholar, supporting evidence‑based practice and nursing research courses while contributing to interdisciplinary studies focused on caregiver mental health, autism spectrum disorder, and culturally responsive behavioral health assessment. Her scholarship includes mixed methods research, systematic‑realist reviews, and innovative work using generative AI to support cross‑cultural mental health measurement. Her dissertation examined predictors of mental health among families raising children with autism spectrum disorder.
Dr. Sapkota has presented her work nationally and internationally and has received multiple honors. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Midwest Nursing Research Society, the International Society for Autism Research, and Nepali Academics in America. Through her teaching, research, and service, Dr. Sapkota remains committed to advancing equitable mental health practices and supporting families and communities through evidence‑based nursing science.
