Biography
Dr. Kimberly Wilson is a Teaching Associate Professor at the Capstone College of Nursing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama, a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from UAB, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Samford University. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a FNP and as a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League of Nursing.
Dr. Wilson maintains an active faculty practice as a FNP in a local family practice setting. She has extensive experience caring for the people of West Alabama in not only the family practice setting, but in obesity management and in an outpatient skilled nursing facility. Prior to becoming an FNP in 2007, she spent 12 years as a Maternal-Newborn nurse.
Dr. Wilson maintains memberships in the American Nurses Association, the Alabama State Nursing Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Alabama Alliance of Nurse Practitioner, the West Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Dr. Wilson’s teaching expertise includes both undergraduate and graduate nursing courses. Currently, she teaches in the FNP program and Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. She also serves as a Faculty Advisor to DNP students.
