Biography
Dr. Gladwell is a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Alabama, her Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from The University of Alabama. She is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner–Primary Care (PNP-PC).
Dr. Gladwell’s clinical background is centered in pediatric nursing, with experience in neonatal and pediatric critical care and advanced practice as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Her clinical experiences have shaped a strong commitment to pediatric nursing education, family-centered care, and preparing future nurses to confidently care for children and families. At the Capstone College of Nursing, she teaches across undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, with experience in pediatric nursing, fundamentals, and pharmacology.
Dr. Gladwell’s scholarly interests include human trafficking identification and response in healthcare settings, simulation-based education, pediatric nursing, and improving healthcare education for vulnerable populations. Her doctoral work focused on enhancing nursing students’ knowledge and preparedness to recognize and respond to human trafficking through evidence-based education and simulation. She continues this work as part of an interdisciplinary research team developing and evaluating innovative educational strategies to improve healthcare professionals’ ability to identify and appropriately respond to individuals experiencing human trafficking.
