Biography

Laura is a full-time clinical instructor at the Capstone College of Nursing. She is a UA/CCN alumni. In 2011, she began working as a patient care assistant/unit secretary in the DCH Regional emergency room. She earned a BSN in 2015. Laura remained in the emergency room until 2017 then internally transferred to the Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit where she continued working full time as a bedside nurse for five years. During this time, she obtained a critical care registered nurse certification. In 2020, Laura began working on a master’s degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She was a grant recipient of the Advanced Nursing Education Workforce (ANEW) program which had an additional focus on rural health, health literacy and substance use disorders. She graduated from UAB in 2022 with an adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner degree. Since graduating, Laura has practiced in a local outpatient neurology clinic and remains practicing per diem. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
