Biography
Dr. Leah Keith earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Calhoun Community College. She continued her nursing education at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration, and, most recently, a Doctor of Nursing Practice.
Dr. Keith began her professional career in education, teaching anatomy and physiology, health, physical science, and related subjects at the secondary and collegiate levels. After transitioning into nursing, she gained clinical experience in emergency and post-anesthesia care in North Alabama before advancing into practice as a family nurse practitioner in primary and urgent care settings.
Dr. Keith’s academic experience includes serving as a graduate teaching assistant in the Simulation and Learning Innovation Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and as an assistant professor of nursing at the University of North Alabama. Her scholarly interests focus on evidence-based teaching, simulation, and mentorship that connect classroom learning with clinical practice. She is committed to cultivating critical inquiry, strengthening clinical reasoning, and preparing nursing students to provide excellent care in an evolving healthcare environment.
A member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Dr. Keith holds national certifications through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Her scholarly work includes an evaluation of the impact of diabetes education, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and the professional development of future nurses.
