Biography

Jessica Johnson is a senior instructor for the Capstone College of Nursing. She received her BSN from The University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing in 2010. She received her MSN through the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s dual primary and acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program in 2015. She is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board as a pediatric nurse practitioner. She completed her PhD in the Joint Nursing Science Ph.D. program through UA and UAH in December 2024.

Dr. Johnson has pediatric clinical experiences in medical-surgical, neurology, cardiac, and endocrine care. Her obstetric clinical experiences include labor and delivery, postpartum, high-risk pregnancy, women’s care, and newborn nursery. Her clinical and research interests lie in the microbiome, growth and development throughout the lifespan, breastfeeding, family-centered care, and interprofessional care. Dr. Johnson currently teaches in pediatrics, health assessment, and role transitions in the RN-BSN program for CCN.
