Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Kimberly Wilson is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Capstone College of Nursing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama, a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from UAB, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Samford University.
She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and is pursuing her certification as a Certified Nurse Educator.
Dr. Wilson has extensive experience caring for the people of West Alabama as a FNP in not only the family practice setting, but in obesity management and in an outpatient skilled nursing facility. Prior to becoming a FNP in 2007, she spent 12 years as a Maternal-Newborn nurse.
Dr. Wilson maintains memberships in the American Nurses Association, the Alabama State Nursing Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Alabama Alliance of Nurse Practitioner, the West Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International honor society of Nursing.
Dr. Wilson was awarded the Lucille Stewart Beeson Nursing Award from Samford University’s Ida Moffett School of Nursing as the most outstanding Post-Masters student who demonstrates excellence in leadership, service, and academic excellence.
Her clinical and academic areas of interest include family practice, obesity management, Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and FNP preceptorship. She has precepted and mentored both nurse practitioner students and nursing students over the course of her career.
