Teresa D. Welch, Ed.D, MSN, RN, NEA-BC
Dr. Welch received her Doctorate of Education in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama in May of 2016. She received her Master’s degree in Case Management from the University of Alabama in August of 2014 and received her BSN from The University of Alabama in May of 1987. Her research interests lie in the understanding of the development of expertise in critical care nursing as larger numbers of new graduates are entering these highly acute and specialized areas of clinical practice each year.
Dr. Welch has twenty-nine years of critical care nursing experience that includes the emergency department and adult intensive care units prior to joining the Capstone College of Nursing in January of 2016. She also has twenty years of nursing management experience as the nurse manager for a thirty-two bed medical intensive care unit and currently holds an ANCC Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification. While serving in the management role, Dr. Welch was heavily involved in critical care orientation for the Critical are Department and continuing education programs for the one hundred twenty employees and staff of the Medical ICU. She is a current ACLS and BLS instructor and past PALS instructor. Dr. Welch is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and Golden Key International.
