As a graduate of the Capstone College of Nursing, I enjoy volunteering with my alma mater and remain active with the Capstone College of Nursing Board of Visitors, having served as a former chair of the Board and currently as the chair of the Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame.  Likewise, my husband, Mark, is an alum of The University of Alabama’s School of Law and has served that College in various capacities. Both our children are also graduates from UA – Roll Tide!

Mark has a sign in his office that reads: “What can I do today to make Alabama a better place?” In that spirit, we felt inspired to fund scholarships at the Capstone College of Nursing (CCN) and the University of Alabama School of Law.  We both believe that the college experience at UA can be transformative, and we together support our respective schools.  It was a blessing for us to create the Cathryn Dunkin and Mark S. Boardman Endowed Nursing Scholarship and to develop relationships with the recipients of that fund.  – Cathy Boardman
