Biography
Dr. Brittany Woods is an Assistant Professor at the Capstone College of Nursing. She received her BSN from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2010 and her Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2023. Dr. Woods spent a decade in clinical practice as a surgical transplant nurse at UAB Hospital in Birmingham serving both adult and pediatric populations as a certified perioperative nurse. She has mentored both new and experienced nurses, Ph.D. students, and BSN Honor students. Following her doctoral degree, she completed a reproductive health postdoctoral fellowship with Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education served at the Center for Disease Control’s Division of Reproductive Health.
Dr. Woods’ primary research investigates the quality of life and mental health of adult populations with infertility. She has also collaborated on sexual and reproductive health research in adult populations with chronic diseases, like cystic fibrosis.
She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Southern Nursing Research Society, Association of periOperative Registered Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Woods has presented research at local, regional, and national conferences with both poster and podium presentations and has several peer-reviewed publications. In her spare time, she is also a professional and personal advocate for infertility awareness with RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association.
