Biography
Dr. Bratcher began his career as an EMT in 1990, completing his Paramedic training in 1993. In 1998 he began his career as a Flight Paramedic in Louisville, Kentucky. He spent nearly 18 years in the prehospital environment. During this time, he completed a wide array of training in prehospital/critical care/burn care/trauma care/basic fire-fighting/haz-mat technician/and mass casualty-incident command.
After completing his BSN in 2005 at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, he worked ICU and Open-Heart Recovery, at Jewish Hospital. Jewish Hospital, a part of the University of Louisville Health System, implanted the first AbioCor artificial heart and is home to the world renowned Kleinert Kutz Hand Surgeons who pioneered hand surgery and the first successful hand transplant in the United States.
Before completing his MSN in 2012 he worked as a Nurse Manager at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, opening their second orthopedic unit. Upon completion of his MSN/FNP at Bellarmine University, he worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Practice, later transitioning to a high volume, high acuity emergency room in Louisville, KY.
He completed his DNP in 2022 at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. His research focus is primary and secondary prevention in rural and underserved areas.
In addition to his faculty duties, he is the Faculty Advisor for the CCN’s Men In Nursing Chapter.
