Call for Abstracts: Submission Deadline April 1, 2024, Submit to UA Box
The 2024 Joint Ph.D. Intensive is an opportunity for our Ph.D. students and faculty to unite, engage in collegial activity, and immerse in nursing science.
This intensive will highlight poster and podium presentations. We would like to invite and strongly encourage you to submit an abstract for consideration for a podium or poster presentation (you can choose the format). If you are open to either format, a review committee will decide whose abstract is selected for a podium presentation.
Students are encouraged to work with their Chair/Advisor in abstract development.
Please follow the instructions below to prepare and submit your abstract. For any questions, please get in touch with Dr. Jennifer Bail (jennifer.bail@uah.edu) or Dr. Paige Johnson (ptjohnso@ua.edu).
The types of abstracts may include:
Research projects (completed or in progress)
Literature review (systematic review or metanalysis)
Theory evaluation, analysis, or application
Concept analysis
Policy Analysis

Tracie Risling RN, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary, the Vice-President of the Canadian Nurses Association and the Past-President of the Canadian Nursing Informatics Association. With a practice background in pediatric nursing, Tracie leads a patient-oriented program of health and nursing informatics research including study on artificial intelligence, social media, co-design, and the use of texting for wellness and workforce support. She is a passionate advocate for increased nursing engagement in the development, use, and evaluation of digital health solutions, which is reflected in her work with the new Doctor of Nursing program at the University of Calgary. Dr. Risling serves on the editorial boards of the Canadian Nurse and the informatics journal JMIR Nursing.
